📌 Karpathos is the second largest island of the Dodecanese and is located most southeast between Crete and Rhodes. Karpathos is a large and elongated island in the direction from North to South with about 160 km of coastline. It is mostly a mountainous island with the highest peak Kali Limni at 1214m!
▪ Karpathos has boat connections with Athens, Crete and Rhodes. It has an airport and connection with Athens, and has seasonal flights with European cities.
✔ Karpathos is magnificent island with amazing and wonderful beaches, fantastic nature, high mountains, pristine landscapes, pine groves and picturesque tradicional villages!

▪ An island with a rich history, as evidenced by numerous archaeological sites and inhabited since the Neolithic period. There were 4 fortified cities in Ancient Period. The island was ruled and shaped his fate by the Venetians, Turks and Italians.
▪ Karpathos is one of the most beautiful Greek islands and offers a wide range of things to satisfy everyone’s taste, especially for lovers of untouched nature and stunning beaches!
▪ An island that, despite the touristic development, has retained an authentic traditional appearance. Picturesque mountain villages have preserved local traditions and authentic atmosphere.
Picturesque mountain villages
In addition to fantastic and untouched natural beauties and impressive beaches, traditional villages in the mountains are the true pearl of Karpathos.
These picturesque villages are surrounded by exceptional nature and offer incredible views of the surrounding landscapes!
The picturesque mountain village of Olympos stands out, which is the most beautiful village on Karpathos!
Picturesque Olympos
The picturesque Olimpos is the most beautiful Karpathos village! It is located on the slopes of the Olimpos mountain on which it was named.
Olimpos retained the traditional charm and authentic cultural identity due to its isolation from the rest of the island! A unique place to look at traditional customs preserved until today.

A walk through the village of Olymbos is a special experience! Tradition at every step and return to the past.
Visitors will delight authentic and striking locations of the picturesque place. Beautiful colorful houses lifted on steep slopes of mountain, narrow streets, picturesque churches and spectacular view of the surroundings and blue sea! Visual paradise for the senses!
Seeing Olympos is unique experience that will be remembered for a lifetime!

Pigadia
The capital and port of Pigadia is located on the southwest side of the island. Pigadia is a relatively new town and the main tourist spot located in a large bay 3 km long with 2 city beaches.
Among the buildings in Pigadia, the impressive Administration Building “Eparcheio” where the Archaeological Museum is located stands out. You should also visit the Church of Evangelistria, which is located in the center next to the harbor promenade.

Pigadia has a lot of interesting taverns where you can enjoy in excellent food and where you can taste great local specialties!
My recommendation for staying on Karpathos is Pigadia and the tourist place Amoopi.

3. Araki

Northern beaches: ⤵
Agios Minas beach
Agios Minas is one of the most difficult beaches to reach by car in Greece! Extremely difficult and narrow road with a lot of potholes and a steep cliff on the side! A jeep or 4×4 vehicle is required for the demanding descent!

Nati beach
Next to the Agios Minas is Nati beach.

Saria island
Saria is an uninhabited island located north of Karpathos, from which it is separated by a narrow strait.
The island is characterized by impressive wild nature, high steep cliffs and beautiful wild coves where the Palatia nature reserve stand out!

Palatia beach
Palatia beach is a fantastic natural environment with deep crystal clear water and imposing rocks surrounding this amazing beach! There are trees on the beach that provide protection from the Sun.
Additional flair is given by the canyon that leads to the abandoned old settlement and the church from where there is a spectacular view of the beach and blue sea!
A visit to the island of Saria by boat is highly recommended! An ideal location for nature lovers, adventurers and those who love cruises!
