Koufonisi – Romantic Chora

Koufonisi – Romantic Chora

🎬 Kufonisi Style

The Chora capital is located on the southwest coast of the island. Romantic Chora features typical Cycladic architecture with whitewashed houses with blue windows and picturesque streets. The dazzling whiteness with the turquoise blue sea creates a magical atmosphere.

The center is adorned with the beautiful  Agios Georgios church, the patron saint of the island. At the port entrance you can see a white windmill.

The characteristic image is fishing boats that complete the vivid picture of turquoise blue sea.

Chora boasts charming taverns and bars, perfect for carefree family moments or romantic embraces. The sunset view over the Keros island is a romantic and unique experience.

Koufonisi beaches

Koufonisi trademark is the phenomenal sandy beaches with a striking turquoise-blue sea. Coves with emerald waters that look like natural pools create a magical scene that stimulates the senses.

The color of the sea is such that it feels like you’re at a tropical destination like the Caribbean, Maldives, or Seychelles. I call it the Seychelles of Europe. It’s pure bliss to relax and enjoy in this setting!

5 reasons to visit Koufonisi!

1️⃣ Everything is within walking distance ➡ Cars are unnecessary on the island, as it has 4 km in diameter. The beaches are within walking distance, and it takes 45 minutes on foot to reach the farthest beach, Pori. You can also go to the beaches by boat, or rent a bicycle.

2️⃣ The island is popular enough, but not crowded ➡ It used to be a haven for adventurers and sophisticated visitors. Today it is considered a trendy location, Mykonos in miniature.

3️⃣ The white sand of Pori beach and the clear turquoise water captivate and entice visitors ➡ This is not a beach for those who like bars, sunbeds and loud music. Tamarisk trees serve as natural umbrellas, and the sound of waves as music.

5️⃣ The starry sky above the Sorokos bar ➡ The oldest bar on Koufonisi and hub of nightlife. Located by the sea and has only 5-6 tables outside, overlooking the uninhabited island of Keros.
