Monastery of Panagia tou Charou      

One of the most important landmarks of the island is located about 1.5 km from the main town of Chora, set in a fertile valley surrounded by numerous orchards and vineyards.

The monastery from the 17th century is characterized by beautiful architecture with blue domes and an idyllic natural setting, rich in vegetation and flowers.

The monastery is known for its rare and unusual icon of the Virgin Mary with the crucified Christ.

On the way from Chora to the monastery, on the surrounding hills, there are also two nice churches – Agii Anargiri and Agios Rafana, offering lovely views of Chora and the surrounding landscape.

Lientou beach

Lientou is a wonderful town beach on Leipsoi, located right next to the port in a calm and sheltered bay.

Hristos beach

Hristos is a small pebbled beach with a few trees that provide natural shade and a peaceful atmosphere.

In the background rises the beautiful church of Metamorfoseos tou Sofirou, adding a special charm to this corner of the island.

Eleni beach

Eleni is a secluded pebbled beach located about 2 km from Chora, reached by a scenic and easy coastal path.

Colorful rocks give the beach a special charm, while the irresistible view of Chora in the distance completes the experience.

Church of Koimisis Theotokou Pano

A striking paved hiking trail of about 1 km leads to the church, ascending along a steep cliff and offering breathtaking views of the blue sea, surrounding islets and Leros in the distance.

Ecclesiastical Museum

From this part of the island, the road continues across the mountain towards the other side, revealing new landscapes and a different experience of Leipsoi.

Along this mountain route, there is an interesting location of the Ecclesiastical Museum, which further enriches the story of the island’s tradition and spiritual heritage.

The road further leads to the northern side of the island, where a intersection appears – left towards Platis Gialos beach and right back to Chora.   

Platis Gialos beach

Platis Gialos is the true gem of Leipsoi and without a doubt, the most beautiful beach on the island, located about 4 km from Chora.

This divine sandy beach with crystal-clear turquoise sea and gentle entrance is the ideal choice for relaxation and enjoying the entire day.

A special exotic charm comes from the incredible shades of turquoise-blue color and the enchanting picturesque scenery with lush greenery surrounding the coastline.

The seductive ambiance that captivates at first sight is complemented by a small seaside taverna, where you can refresh yourself and try delicious local food.

Eva beach        

Eva is a small pebbled beach located right next to the asphalt road, near the famous Platis Gialos beach.

It is characterized by beautiful shades of blue sea and a peaceful atmosphere, suitable for a short refreshment and a break while exploring this part of the island.

On the way back to Chora along the northern side of the island, there is also the secluded and more difficult-to-reach Limari beach, exposed to the influence of northern winds and waves.

After the enchanting experience of Platis Gialos, the journey continues along the southern coast of the island, revealing hidden coves, peaceful beaches, and scenic landscapes all the way to the eastern side of Leipsoi.

Papantria beach

The southern coast begins with this untouched sandy-pebbled beach, located about 2 km from the main town of Chora, accessible via several asphalt roads and easy paths through gently hilly terrain.

Shallow and calm crystal-clear waters invite you for a refreshing swim, while the surrounding nature creates a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.

Next to Papantria lies another more hidden little cove without a name, for those seeking extra privacy.

Katsadia beach

Next is the gorgeous sandy Katsadia beach, with soft golden sand, known for its tranquility and charming natural setting.

Chochlokoura beach

Continuing along the road towards the southeast side, in a large bay, lies the long and spacious rocky-pebbled beach of Chochlakoura, great for swimming and snorkeling.

The scenic setting is enhanced by high white-yellow rocks on the left, as well as numerous trees that provide enough natural shade.

Xerokambos beach

Xerokambos is a solid rocky-pebbled beach that offers a pleasant environment for swimming, along with nice view of the surrounding islets.

Tourkomnima beach   

Tourkomnima is a wonderful sandy-pebbled beach on the eastern side of the island, located about 3 km from the main town of Chora.

Its delightful turquoise-blue waters are ideal for swimming, while a few trees provide natural shade for carefree enjoyment in an pristine natural setting.  

The idyllic and picturesque scenery is enhanced by the small church of Agios Nikolaos, set on a tiny peninsula that divides the beach into two parts.

An interesting hiking trail starts from Chora towards the northeastern coast and the island’s completely natural side, home to the beaches of Kamares and Monodentri.

This part of the island reveals wild and unspoiled nature with rocky landscapes and isolated, hidden coves that offer a sense of complete privacy and silence.

Kamares is an untouched cove on the northeastern coast, located about 2.5 km from Chora, surrounded by beautiful natural scenery that highlights its wild character.

The pebbled shore with white rocks around and crystal-clear waters, combined with lush vegetation and impressive view of the Aspronisi islets in the distance, creates a unique setting.

Monodentri beach

Not far from Kamares beach on the eastern side lies the hidden rocky cove of Monodentri, with a similar wild character and untouched nature.

It is named after a distinctive tree standing alone on a small rocky peninsula, offering a lovely view of the Aspronisi islets in the distance.

This naturist beach offers a sense of silence and isolation in the natural setting of the eastern coast of Leipsoi.

The path continues along the eastern coastline towards Tourkomnima beach, passing by two small rocky coves – Hoclaoura and an unnamed beach, both characterized by complete isolation and an unspoiled landscape.
