Fascinating picturesque Symi
From the first moment and entering the port, visitors are fascinated by the incredible architecture of the Symi capital, which is located in the bay on the steep slopes of the hill.
Extraordinary picturesque landscape with wonderful colorful neoclassical two and three-storey stone houses by the sea and on the hill around.
Symi is divided in two parts: Gialos and Chorio. Gialos is a port with charming and gorgeous traditional villas painted in all colors that amaze with their beauty.
The entrance to the port is dominated by an imposing stone clock tower from 1881. After it is the old shipyard.

Chorio is a major part of the capital and is located on a hill that rises steeply above the port. In addition to the asphalt road, the parts are also connected by the “Kali Strata”, about 500 wide stone steps that rise from the Gialos port to the Chorio up in the hill.
The remains of the medieval castro with the beautiful church of Panagia tou Kastrou is a location with a spectacular panoramic view that leaves you breathless!

One of the sights is Pontikokastro on the hill with 20 windmills in ruins. From there you have an amazing view on Gialos port!
Numerous beautiful churches and mansions scattered in the capital speak of the glorious past of Symi!

Μonastery of the Archangel Michael Panormitis
The Monastery of Archangel Michael Panormitis is one of the most important landmarks and the patron of the island of Symi.
It is located in the southwest of the island, 19 km from the Symi capital, in the bay of the same name, Panormitis.
The beautiful monastery was built at the beginning of the 18th century in a picturesque bay right next to the sea and is surrounded by a green hill.

The beauty of the wonderful monastery complex with its impressive high bell tower and the incredible surroundings of the sea and mountains is simply enchanting.
In the monastery church there is an impressive miraculous icon of Archangel Michael covered in silver and gold and a beautiful wooden iconostasis.

Emporeios
A small picturesque traditional place with a small pebble beach surrounded by trees.
It is located in a bay about 3.5 km northwest of the Symi capital.

There are 2 excellent beaches in the area, Agia Marina and Agios Nikolaos, accessible on foot, as well as by boat from the capital.
